Cross Border Talents is recruiting a Construction Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent to join one of our Clients in Antwerp, Belgium.

The E&I Superintendent is appointed for major projects. He reports to the Construction Manager and will take responsibility for the coordination of all E&I activities through the E&I Superintendents or, when are not present, directly through the E&Il Supervisors.

ES has direct responsibility for the management of E&I Subcontractors. He will ensure that their performances are carefully monitored in terms of schedule, quality and cost, and he will coordinate all necessary recovery actions whenever detect deviation from schedule or specifications under the guidance of the Manager.

He ensures the implementation of all the HSE procedures and standards for the areas or activities (subcontractors) of responsibilities.

He directly participates to the HSE activities on site as defined for his position in the Site HSE plan and related procedures.

Responsibilities as the Construction Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent:

  • Plan and direct the work activities.
  • Directs personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications
  • Coordination of personnel, material, and equipment needed to meet schedules.
  • Support project and construction management with planning and utilization of proper means and methods for piping activities.
  • Analyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend/implement an appropriate course of action.
  • Adhere to and support the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental Policies.
  • Identify certification, training and experience appropriate for assignment scope.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Job-related technical knowledge is necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
  • Typically serve as the lead person to coordinate process activities within their assigned scope in an active construction work site
  • Coordinate and implement activities and any other resource necessary to assure a safe and quality execution
  • Generally responsible to ensure all work undertaken is within approved scope boundaries and is in full compliance
  • Proven ability promoting outstanding customer service and client relations
  • Basic computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheets and electronic presentation programs
  • May have to interact with Owner’s Field Representative and outside testing agencies.

Your Profile as the Construction Electrical and Instrumentation Superintendent:

  • Engineer degree
  • Minimum 20 years of working experience in Construction Supervision
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in Petrochemical plants
  • Conceptual thinking.
  • Planning and organisation skills
  • Fluent orally and written in English
  • Sound knowledge of dangerous conditions on plants.
  • Sound knowledge of ISO9001
  • Working experience in a multicultural environment
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team player
  • Self-motivated with the ability to supervise and motivate a small team
  • Willingness to travel
  • High ethical standards
  • Good communication skills
  • Cultural awareness
  • Positive “can do” attitude & strong work ethic
